## What it is

Vidyst is a native macOS app for live streaming and recording. From one setup it:

- Goes live on YouTube, Twitch, X, Instagram and any service with a stream key, at the same time (2 places on Basic, 7 on Creator).
- Puts out wide (16:9, for YouTube) and tall (9:16, for Shorts and Reels) video live, from the same take.
- Brings on up to 10 guests (2 on Basic) who join from a browser link, with no download or account; each voice is recorded on its own track.
- Merges live chat from every platform into one feed, where the host can reply, pin, or put comments on screen.
- Streams and records in 4K. Recordings survive a crash or restart up to the moment it stopped.
- Processes camera, screen and audio on the Mac; they only leave for the places you stream to.
- Has a free companion app, Vidyst Remote for iPhone and iPad, that goes live, records, switches scenes and works the mixer over the local network. It is a controller only: no video goes to the device, and it never talks to Vidyst's servers.

- **Basic** ($10/month or $100/year): Everything you need to go live and record on your Mac. Includes: Dual canvas: horizontal + vertical; Recording in MP4, MOV and MKV; Apple ProRes and multitrack audio; 4K60 and hardware HEVC; Merged live chat; Multistream to 2 destinations at once; Up to 2 guests in your room.
- **Creator** ($35/month or $350/year): Every destination at once and a bigger guest room. Includes: Everything in Basic; Multistream to 7 destinations at once; Up to 10 guests in your room.

## Requirements

- Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later)
- macOS 14.2 Sonoma or later
- 8 GB memory (16 GB recommended for 4K dual canvas)
- Internet connection for streaming and sign-in

## Download and install

Download: https://www.vidyst.com/Vidyst.dmg (always the latest signed, notarized release).

1. **Open the DMG.** Double-click the downloaded file and drag Vidyst into your Applications folder.
2. **Launch and sign in.** Open Vidyst and sign in with Apple, Google or email in your browser. You'll be sent straight back to the app.
3. **Grant permissions.** Allow camera, microphone, screen recording and system audio once. macOS remembers them.
4. **Go live.** Connect YouTube or add an RTMP destination, pick a scene and press Go Live.

## Common questions

**Which Macs does Vidyst work on?**
Any Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 14.2 Sonoma or later.

**Do my guests need to install anything?**
No. They open your invite link in their browser and join. You let them in when you are ready.

**Can I stream wide and tall at the same time?**
Yes. One setup goes out wide for YouTube and tall for Shorts and Reels, live, at the same time.

**Where can I go live?**
YouTube, Twitch, X, Instagram and any service that gives you a stream key. Basic streams to 2 places at once, Creator to 7.

**What happens if the app crashes?**
Your recording is saved up to the moment it stopped.

**Is there a free trial?**
Yes. 14 days free, no card needed. Start it right in the Mac app.
