How to choose
Four questions that settle most choices faster than a feature list.
Do you need Windows, Linux or an Intel Mac?
Vidyst won't fit. OBS Studio, Meld Studio and Streamlabs Desktop run on Windows; OBS also on Linux; StreamYard and Restream's studio run in a browser.

Do you want free software?
OBS Studio is free and open-source. Meld Studio has a free plan with multistreaming and two canvases. Streamlabs Dual Output is free for one horizontal and one vertical destination. StreamYard and Restream have free plans with limits.

Is your show built around remote guests?
Vidyst, StreamYard and Restream's studio bring guests in from a browser link, and Ecamm Pro has Interview Mode. OBS and Meld need a separate tool.
Do you want to produce locally, or distribute from the cloud?
Vidyst, OBS, Meld and Ecamm encode on your computer and need upload for every destination. Restream and Streamlabs Ultra relay one upload to many platforms, and can be combined with a local app.
Scope and limits
- Each page cites the other product’s own pricing pages, docs or release notes, with the date we checked them. Prices and plans change; the other company’s page is the authority.
- We compare what each product documents, not performance. We haven’t benchmarked any of them.
- vMix: A Windows production app, so outside the scope of a Mac comparison.
- PRISM Live Studio, Wirecast, Riverside: Not compared yet: we publish a page only once we can source every claim.
